Kadence

2 min readUpdated October 28, 2026

Your fonts appear in the Kadence theme’s Customizer and in the Kadence Blocks font picker, the same way Kadence’s own Custom Fonts add-on adds fonts. Either one works without the other. Checked against the Kadence theme 1.5.2 and Kadence Custom Fonts 1.1.3 source.

Kadence theme#

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize → General → Typography.
  2. Open a font setting, for example Base Font or Heading Font.
  3. Your fonts are in the Custom Font group, with their weights and italics.
  4. Click Publish.

Kadence Blocks#

  1. Select a Kadence block, such as Advanced Heading or Advanced Text.
  2. Open its typography settings and the Font Family list.
  3. Your fonts are listed with the weights and styles you added.

Fallback fonts#

Kadence prints only the font name in its CSS. Nahnu Fonts adds your font’s fallback (for example 'Inter', sans-serif), so text stays readable while the font loads.

Google Fonts switch#

With Stop page builders loading Google Fonts on (the default):

  • The Kadence theme and Kadence Blocks stop loading Google Fonts on your site.
  • The Customizer stops offering and previewing Google fonts.
  • Exception: if Kadence’s own Load Google Fonts Locally is on, the theme keeps loading its fonts, because they already come from your site, not Google.

Settings and blocks that already use a Google font keep its name. Add that family in Nahnu Fonts to serve it from your site.

Good to know#

  • Kadence Blocks’ own source wasn’t available for checking. The hooks it uses are confirmed by the Kadence theme and the Custom Fonts add-on, which use the same ones.
  • The block editor’s Typography panel also lists your fonts. See Block editor and Site Editor.

Turn it off#

Settings → Where fonts appear → Use with Kadence. One switch covers the theme and Kadence Blocks.
