Adobe Fonts
Connect an Adobe Fonts web project with just its project ID, and its fonts join your library and your font pickers. No Adobe API key is needed.
Adobe’s license requires Adobe Fonts to load from Adobe’s servers, so they’re the one kind of font Nahnu Fonts doesn’t self-host. While a project is connected, visitors’ browsers contact Adobe. See Privacy and GDPR.
Before you start#
You need an Adobe Fonts web project with at least one font in it, and the project must be published.
- Sign in at fonts.adobe.com.
- Open Web Projects (under your account menu, “Manage fonts”).
- Copy the project ID. It’s a short code like
abc1def, also seen in the embed codeuse.typekit.net/abc1def.css.
Connect#
- Go to Nahnu Fonts → Settings → Adobe Fonts.
- Paste the ID into Web project ID.
- Click Connect.
The section shows a Connected badge and lists Families in this project. Each family appears in the Font library, marked Served by Adobe, and in your editor and page builder font pickers.
What you can and can’t change#
| You can | You can’t |
|---|---|
| Rename the font in the library | Download or self-host the files |
| Set a fallback | Preload its styles |
| Set “Apply to” selectors | Choose weights here (choose them in the Adobe project) |
| Switch it off | Remove individual styles |
Add or remove fonts#
Change the fonts in your web project on fonts.adobe.com, then refresh the list in one of two ways:
- In the admin: click Disconnect, then Connect with the same ID. The families are listed fresh, so names, fallbacks and “Apply to” selectors go back to their defaults.
- With WP-CLI: run
wp nahnu-fonts adobe <project-id>while connected. The list is refreshed and your names, fallbacks, “Apply to” selectors and on/off choices are kept for families still in the project.
Disconnect#
Click Disconnect. The project’s fonts are removed from your library and the Adobe stylesheet stops loading on your site. Pages that used them fall back to their fallback font.
If connecting fails#
| Message | Fix |
|---|---|
| That Adobe Fonts project could not be found | Check the ID and that the project is published |
| No fonts were found in that project | Add fonts to the project on fonts.adobe.com first |
| A network error | Your server couldn’t reach use.typekit.net; try again or ask your host |
How it loads#
Adobe’s stylesheet loads on every page with the handle nahnu-fonts-adobe, separately from your self-hosted fonts.
