Privacy and GDPR
Your visitors load fonts from your own server only and never contact Bunny Fonts or Google. The one exception is Adobe Fonts, which Adobe requires to load from its own servers.
This post is not legal advice. It describes exactly what the plugin sends, so you can update your privacy policy.
What each service receives#
| Service | When it’s contacted | By whom | What is sent |
|---|---|---|---|
Bunny Fonts (fonts.bunny.net), the default source | When an admin opens the Google Fonts screen (list cached one week), previews a font, or adds one | Your server and the admin’s browser | Font names, weights and character sets, plus the usual technical data of any web request, such as IP address |
Google Fonts (fonts.google.com, fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) | Only if you choose “Google Fonts directly” in Settings, in place of Bunny Fonts | Your server and the admin’s browser | The same as above |
Adobe Fonts (use.typekit.net, p.typekit.net) | On connecting a project, and on every page while a project is connected | Your server, and every visitor’s browser | Visitors’ browsers load the stylesheet and fonts from Adobe |
SureCart (api.surecart.com) | When you activate or deactivate a license, open the License screen with a license active, and during WordPress update checks | Your server | License key, the site’s address and name, the activation’s id |
Visitors never contact Bunny Fonts, Google or SureCart because of Nahnu Fonts.
Stop other plugins from using Google Fonts#
Your theme or another plugin may still load Google Fonts. Two switches in Settings → Privacy help:
- Stop page builders loading Google Fonts (on by default) turns off a builder’s own Google Fonts where the builder supports it. See the Integrations posts for what it does in each builder.
- Block Google Fonts from the theme and other plugins (off by default) removes stylesheets loaded from
fonts.googleapis.com. Add those fonts in Nahnu Fonts first, or the text falls back to another font.
To check, open your site with the browser’s developer tools on the Network tab and filter by fonts.g.
Text for your privacy policy#
If you use Adobe Fonts, mention it. A starting point:
This site uses Adobe Fonts. When you visit, your browser loads fonts from Adobe’s servers, which receive your IP address. See Adobe’s privacy policy.
Without Adobe Fonts, no font-related third-party requests come from your visitors.
