Breakdance

2 min readUpdated October 28, 2026

Your fonts appear at the top of Breakdance’s font list, the same place Breakdance puts its own custom fonts. Variable fonts get a weight slider. Checked against the Breakdance 3.0.0-beta.9 source.

Use a font#

  1. Open a page in Breakdance and select an element.
  2. In the Typography control, open the font dropdown.
  3. Your fonts are at the top of the list.

For site-wide fonts, set them in Global Settings → Typography.

Variable fonts#

For a variable font, Breakdance shows a weight slider covering the font’s full range, for example 100 to 900, instead of fixed weights.

Google Fonts switch#

With Stop page builders loading Google Fonts on (the default), Google fonts stay in the list but are never loaded from Google, in the builder or on your site.

They stay listed on purpose: if they were removed, designs that already use a Google font would break, because Breakdance would print an internal font ID instead of the family name. Instead, the real family name is printed. Add that family in Nahnu Fonts and your self-hosted copy is used. If you don’t, that text shows the fallback font.

Good to know#

  • Fonts are registered with the same IDs Jooosi Fon used, so designs made with Jooosi Fon keep their fonts after you move.
  • Breakdance’s editor shows font preview images that it loads from GitHub. This is Breakdance’s own behavior, in the editor only.
  • Oxygen 6 isn’t supported. Oxygen 6 runs on the Breakdance engine, but the integration stays off when Breakdance runs in Oxygen mode. Use CSS variables or “Apply to” selectors there.

Turn it off#
